What legal research materials are available at law libraries?

Our public access law libraries provide online access to Lexis Advance and Westlaw legal research services as well as access to the Lexis ebook digital law library. Law libraries also can provide legal research books.

Both the online services and any legal research books provide access to primary sources of law including NYS and federal statutes, caselaw and regulations. In addition, access is provided to secondary resources such as legal research treatises (explain areas of law), legal encyclopedias and dictionaries.

Public access law libraries provide any to computers, some provide fee-based printing capabilities and microform readers and microforms themselves.

Many public access law libraries are staffed with law library staff who can assist with your legal research needs, however, please call ahead of time to determine hours of availability of the library and staff.
