What laws apply to violence in the workplace?
Answer
There are a number of laws that protect public workers, nurses, and retail workers from violence in the workplace. Other groups cited in these laws include first-responders and judges. Victims of domestic violence also have protections in the workplace from offenders. See the Court Help website on domestic violence for those laws.

- Penal Law, art 120 Assault and related offenses includes sections defining assault on peace officers, emergency medical services professional and retail workers.
