I was told to prepare for a Traverse Hearing.
How do I do that?
Answer
From Court Help: "A traverse hearing is a hearing in front of a judge to decide whether the other side gave you the legal papers informing you of a lawsuit against you (a summons and complaint), in the right way."
There are no DIY forms for a traverse hearing. You will need to visit a Public Access Law Library and read the materials described in the attached handout.
In the New York City Civil Court, traverse hearings follow 22 NYCRR 208.29 (Court Rule 208.29)
