What is a compliance conference? What court rules apply?
Answer
"Compliance conferences are designed to monitor the progress of discovery after the issuance of the preliminary conference order and prior to the deadline for filing the note of issue. Required in DCM [Differentiated Case Management] courts, they may also be held in non-DCM courts. In addition to permitting the court to monitor the progress of the parties in completing disclosure, the compliance conference provides an opportunity for a party to expand, revise, and otherwise tailor and refine the scope and type of disclosure in a particular case. It also provides an opportunity to attempt to resolve disclosure disputes prior to making a motion. "1 LexisNexis AnswerGuide New York Civil Disclosure § 3.15
